Andhra Pradesh Set to Operationalise PM-SETU Partnership as Visakhapatnam ITI Cluster Plan Wins Approval
The plan is the first cleared under PM-SETU and makes Andhra Pradesh the first state to onboard an Anchor Industry Partner, officials said.
- On Saturday, the National Steering Committee approved the first Strategic Investment Plan for the Visakhapatnam ITI Cluster in Andhra Pradesh, submitted by ArcelorMittal Nippon Steel India and NAMTECH under PM-SETU.
- The Pradhan Mantri Skilling and Employability Transformation through Upgraded ITIs initiative aims to transform 1,000 government ITIs through an industry-led Hub-and-Spoke model, backed by a Rs 60,000 crore outlay.
- MSDE Secretary Debashree Mukherjee chaired the 3rd National Steering Committee Meeting at Kaushal Bhawan, New Delhi, where industry leaders including Hindustan Aeronautics Limited and Bajaj Auto participated in deliberations on accelerating implementation.
- Andhra Pradesh becomes the first state to operationalize an industry partnership, while 32 states have constituted steering committees and 12 have issued Requests for Proposals to invite anchor industry partners.
- More Strategic Investment Plans are expected in the coming months, accelerating nationwide ITI transformation and supporting the government's long-term goal of building a skilled workforce for Viksit Bharat.
