Sharks Scratch Captain Macklin Celebrini because of a Lower-Body Injury
- San Jose Sharks star center Macklin Celebrini was scratched from Monday night's lineup against the Dallas Stars due to a lower-body injury announced minutes before puck drop.
- Celebrini, the 20-year-old face of the franchise, took part in warmups but left the ice earlier than usual after signing a five-year, $94 million extension this summer.
- Former Stars forward Ty Dellandrea made his season debut replacing the recently named captain, who previously assisted on Igor Chernyshov's overtime goal during Saturday's 2-0 win against the Los Angeles Kings.
- The Sharks lineup shuffle forced Dellandrea into immediate action against his former team, leaving San Jose without its top young star for the contest in Dallas.
- Celebrini's absence tests San Jose's depth as the team continues its road trip in Dallas, with the recently named captain's status uncertain for upcoming games.
