Celebration of Life planned for actor R.J. Mitte
On Monday, October 12, actor RJ Mitte, best known for playing Walter White Jr. on Breaking Bad, died by suicide in Brownsville, Texas, at age 34.
A resurfaced November 2025 podcast interview revealed Mitte lost most Breaking Bad earnings to a business manager who allegedly pocketed tax payments, creating a debt that took 10 years to resolve.
Mitte discovered 14 other actors, including several with disabilities, had been scammed by the same manager through fake tax filings; legal recourse proved impossible because money was routed through offshore accounts.
Following his mother's car accident, Mitte became his family's main breadwinner at age 13, caring for her and younger sister Lacey throughout his Mississippi youth while pursuing his acting career.
Co-Stars Bryan Cranston and Dean Norris remembered Mitte as "a sweetheart of a young man," while tributes highlighted his legacy as a passionate disability rights advocate who brought authenticity to mainstream television.
