Popular Roller Coaster Shut Down at Six Flags’ Cedar Point After Bracket Comes Loose From Ride
Six Flags said the ride will stay closed pending an internal review and state inspection after a bracket landed in a guest area.
On Friday, Cedar Point closed the Millennium Force roller coaster after a small bracket dislodged from a ride car and landed in a guest area during the park's HalloWeekends event.
A spokesperson confirmed that no guests or Cedar Point employees were injured or struck when the metal bracket fell, despite the park operating at full capacity during the event.
Millennium Force rises 310 feet into the sky and reaches speeds of 93 mph, making it one of the park's most popular attractions since opening in 2000 as the world's first giga coaster.
The ride will remain closed pending an internal review and additional state inspection to ensure safety before reopening to the public, officials stated.
This incident follows a fatal accident on Monday at Six Flags Over Georgia, where a 42-year-old man fell from the Goliath coaster; Six Flags Entertainment subsequently closed nine similar rides across its parks.
