CDC orders pullback of new scientific papers involving its researchers, source says
The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has ordered scientists to withdraw or pause publications for review of 'forbidden terms' like 'gender' and 'LGBT,' according to reports from Inside Medicine and confirmed by Reuters.
An email from the CDC's chief science officer instructed researchers to stop advancing manuscripts that include these terms, which may affect many scientific papers.
The order is part of compliance with an executive order from President Trump mandating recognition of only two sexes: male and female.
Experts have expressed concerns about the implications of censoring these terms for public health, with Dr. Alfredo Morabia stating, 'A constitutional right has been canceled' and calling the situation 'Orwellian.
