CDC orders pullback of new scientific papers involving its researchers, source says
The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is withdrawing all papers involving its researchers for review by the Trump administration, according to a federal official who spoke to Reuters.
The review aims to remove language to comply with President Donald Trump's executive order that recognizes only two sexes: male and female.
The withdrawal order affects all manuscripts written or co-written by CDC scientists and raises concerns about censorship among public health experts.
Experts, including Carl Schmid and Dr. Carlos Del Rio, criticized the orders, stating that they threaten the ability to address public health needs, especially regarding HIV.
