Driver Plows Through Police Car Door During Traffic Stop
Authorities said the driver fled after striking a marked patrol car door and was later arrested on failure-to-stop and DUI charges.
On Oct 24, a driver struck a patrol car door in Conroe, Texas, as a deputy attempted to exit, according to The Montgomery County Sheriff. The vehicle fled the scene at a high rate of speed.
Deputies were conducting an investigation along Interstate 45 after receiving reports of a different suspected intoxicated driver. A second patrol vehicle arrived with emergency lights activated to protect the scene.
Authorities identified the vehicle and arrested 33-year Elizabeth Perez for DUI, "passing an emergency vehicle causing bodily injury," and "failure to stop and render aid." Jacob Zamora, the initial driver, was also arrested for DUI.
Both Perez and Jacob Zamora were taken to the Montgomery County Jail following their arrests. The deputy involved in the collision was treated at a hospital and released; no other injuries were reported.
The video shared by The Montgomery County Sheriff on Facebook shows one person being placed into custody. The footage captured the driver plowing through the open patrol door before continuing down the road.
