Carson Beck's QB career in college wasn't perfect. He says that can help in adjustment to NFL
The third-round pick brings 43 college starts and a comeback from elbow surgery as Arizona searches for a long-term answer at quarterback.
On Thursday, quarterback Carson Beck was introduced at the Arizona Cardinals' practice facility after being selected in the third round of last month's draft. Head coach Mike LaFleur values Beck's experience from a six-year college career.
Beck is roughly 18 months removed from major elbow surgery after an injury in December 2024. He made 43 starts across Georgia and Miami, leading the Hurricanes to a College Football Playoff runner-up finish last season.
Following the Kyler Murray era, the Cardinals seek a fresh start after finishing 3-14 last season and firing coach Jonathan Gannon. Murray, who recorded a 38-48-1 record over seven seasons, now plays for the Minnesota Vikings.
Veteran Jacoby Brissett and Gardner Minshew remain on the roster to provide depth. The duo holds a combined 37-75 record as starting quarterbacks, with Brissett starting the final 12 games of last season with a 1-11 record.
"My arm is as strong as it's ever been," Beck said, emphasizing his focus on mechanics. He is working to ensure his throwing technique is 100% exactly where he wants it as he prepares for his professional debut.
