Carlsberg Upbeat on Annual Profit Despite First Half Miss
On Wednesday, Carlsberg forecast full-year profit towards the upper end of its 4% to 6% guidance range, citing faster-than-expected synergies from its 2025 Britvic purchase despite missing half-year estimates.
Carlsberg acquired J2O maker Britvic last year for €3.3 billion, and the company now expects to deliver approximately 50% of total expected €110 million synergies in 2026, exceeding prior 30% to 40% expectations.
Half-Year operating profit reached 7.45 billion Danish crowns , missing 7.55 billion expectations, while soft drinks sales rose 7.8% and alcohol-free beer volumes increased 11% despite a 3.9% decline in Western Europe.
Carlsberg Group Chief Executive Jacob Aarup-Andersen attributed the positive outlook to disciplined cost management, narrowing the brewer's previous 2% to 6% annual organic operating profit growth forecast to 4% to 6%.
Broader sales face headwinds from geopolitical turbulence, including the Ukraine war, while shifts in drinking habits among younger consumers continue to pressure demand despite the company's portfolio optimization efforts.
