On Thursday, the Carinthian Parliament unanimously decided on the announced change to the electoral system. Members agreed, among other things, to raise the ceiling for campaign expenditure.
For the 2028 state election, an inflation adjustment of the upper limit for campaign costs was decided. Each party is allowed to plan with around 750,000 euros.
In the Carinthian Parliament, an adjustment of the Carinthian electoral system was decided unanimously on Thursday. Among other things, the electoral ceiling for state elections is significantly increased, the compensation for the electorate is standardized and the so-called "flying electoral commission" is abolished. The amendments already apply to the upcoming municipal council and mayoral elections in February 2027.
