Cargill Lockout in Fort Morgan Ends After 88 Days as Union Approves New Five-Year Contract
The new deal includes pay gains and worker protections, and Cargill will phase employees back before restarting production, the union said.

- Cargill locked out more than 1,700 employees on May 20 after contract negotiations stalled in February, citing safety and operational risks. The company had previously halted production in April.
- Business Agent Chris Suazo noted that over 1,000 employees signed a petition requesting a re-vote after rejecting a similar offer earlier this month. The union translated documents into ten languages.
- Harvest operations are scheduled to restart the week of September 7 following training and safety checks. Cargill plans to recall workers in phases over the next 30 days.
- Fort Morgan City Manager Brent Nation stated the plant's closure resulted in an estimated $15 million decrease to the municipal budget. The lockout forced citywide budget cuts, as Cargill represents 15% of Fort Morgan's annual revenue.
