Car Crashes Into a Passenger Terminal at Detroit Metropolitan Airport, Driver Arrested
Police said the driver was detained and six people were treated after the crash, which briefly closed the terminal before reopening.
On Friday, May 29, 2026, a driver crashed into the Evans Terminal at the Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County Airport around 10 a.m., and police took the driver into custody immediately following the collision.
This incident marks the second vehicle ramming at the Detroit Metro Airport in recent months, following a January 2026 collision at the McNamara Terminal where a driver hit a ticket counter.
Emergency medical services treated six people following the crash, and a witness told WDIV the driver yelled, "Get out of my way, b----," while revving the engine as he bypassed cement barriers.
Airport officials closed the Evans Terminal after the crash, though operations resumed before 11 a.m., and police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident.
New barriers were installed outside the McNamara Terminal following the January crash to enhance security, though authorities have not indicated if similar upgrades are planned for the Evans Terminal.
