Car break-ins and thefts on the rise nationwide and in parts of the Upstate

Nationwide, we've seen a nearly 30 percent increase in car thefts, according to the Council on Criminal Justice. Locally, car break-ins are also on the rise. While crime is down or about the same within Greenville city limits, we did see an increase inCar thefts and break-in from 2021 to 2023. Kia and Hyundai are recalling certain models.
