Canine-dates instead of candidates: Puppy MLA elections in Christina Lake
Advance voting is underway at the Long Shot Pub as nine dogs compete for the Pup MLA title, with karaoke set for the results party.
The Long Shot Pub in Christina Lake is hosting a "Pup MLA" election featuring nine canine candidates. Advance voting is currently underway at the pub for residents to cast ballots.
Residents have a wide slate of candidates to choose from, with platforms ranging from unlimited fetch to public canine health care. All nine candidates share one delicious mandate: a gourmet burger and water bowl at every eatery in Christina Lake.
Candidates bring diverse experience: Dixie promotes economic stimulus for the nap industry, Milo, an Alberta-born Labradoodle, promises public canine health care, while Becky champions fitness by walking 5 km daily and Sage offers 130 pounds of Taurus determination.
On Saturday, Oct. 24, the Long Shot Pub will host an election results party featuring karaoke to declare the noble furry leader. Until then, the pups demand a full report, preferably in a takeout box, reads the Long Shot Pub's press release.
Other contenders include Pablo, a Malpoo rescued in Huatulco, Mexico, and Bruce, a Chiweenie, who runs on protected toy time. These candidates continue campaigning until final results reveal which pet receives the most licking rights.
