The public debt will undoubtedly occupy the discussions throughout this season, with the presidential election of May 2027 in perspective. From this beginning, a melenchonist proposal makes debate: why not "freeze" part of the debt to alleviate our burden?
The proposal seems as simple as it is radical: since the French public debt is now reaching its peaks, why not erase part of it? After all, a debt is an accounting entry. It would therefore be sufficient, in appearance, to draw a line on a few hundred billion euros to immediately restore to the State the capacity to act. This is in particular what Jean-Luc Mélenchon defends.
