Canada-Wide Warrants Issued for Edmonton Father Now Wanted for Abduction of His 2 Kids
Police say the father and his two children were last seen in north Edmonton, and investigators have not confirmed their whereabouts beyond Lloydminster.
- On Wednesday, the Edmonton Police Service announced Canada-wide warrants for 42-year-old Scot MacDermid on two counts of alleged abduction involving his children, nine-year-old Lesley and six-year-old George.
- MacDermid and his children disappeared from the Manning Town Centre in Edmonton on August 28, with investigators later confirming the trio was seen in Lloydminster, Alta., at approximately 6:30 p.m. that same day.
- Police have not issued an AMBER Alert, as investigators determined the case does not meet required criteria; national standards require evidence that a child faces immediate physical danger.
- "Finding Lesley and George remains our top priority," said Staff Sgt. Robert Davis of the EPS Child Protection Section, emphasizing that investigators continue working to locate the children safely.
- Anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of Scot MacDermid, Lesley, or George is asked to contact the Edmonton Police Service at 78-423-4567 or dial 377 from a mobile phone.
