Canada Holds Ninth Position in FIFA Women’s Rankings Despite Loss, Draw with Denmark
Denmark climbed to 10th after a win and draw over Canada, while Spain, Germany and the United States held their places near the top.
Canada remained ninth in the latest FIFA women's soccer world rankings released Tuesday, maintaining its position despite recent international friendly results against Denmark.
The Canadians held their ranking despite a 4-3 loss to Denmark on Oct. 12 in Toronto and a 1-1 draw with the Danes three days earlier in Montreal.
Head coach Casey Stoney has yet to record a victory against a top-15 opponent since taking over Canada's program in January 2025.
Denmark climbed two spots to 10th, marking the country's first top-10 appearance since August 2010, as Olivia Holdt scored past goalkeeper Kailen Sheridan on Oct. 12.
Canada faces Panama on Nov. 28 in the CONCACAF W Championship, a qualifier for the 2027 World Cup and 2028 Los Angeles Olympics.
