Former college football coach dies following battle with cancer: ‘Lost a giant’

Former University of South Carolina player and Campbell University coach Dale Steele has died.

GREENVILLE, N.C. – Dale Steele, who served as an assistant head coach, wide receivers coach and an administrator with the East Carolina football program, passed away on Sunday, July 19 at the age of 70. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, August 1 at 1 p.m. (ET) inside Butler Chapel on the Campbell University campus.
