Campaigning with caution in Mulgrave
Organisers said the forum was scrapped after key candidates failed to reconfirm, limiting voters’ chance to question contenders before election day.
Organizers cancelled the Mulgrave Candidate Forum on October 25, originally scheduled for November 5, after key participants failed to confirm their attendance.
Labor sitting member Eden Foster and Liberal candidate Charles Tran did not respond to organizer requests, forcing the cancellation of the public event.
Only Connor Buchanan from the Vic Socialists and one other candidate committed to participating in the forum to answer voter questions.
According to organizers, the cancellation severely impairs the electorate's ability to be better informed before election day.
The disruption unfolds within a volatile political landscape where National Security Investigations established a 'flying squad of hate disrupters' in October last year to counter high-harm threats.
