Since colonial times, free trade fairs have been the main source of food, exchange and distribution of products and goods, establishing themselves as economic, social and cultural spaces deeply rooted in the territorial identity of our country. It was in the city of La Serena, Coquimbo region, where the first trade fair was established and registered, in 1789, in a Chile that did not even approach the dawn of the independence of Spain.
