BYD will launch its first heavy-duty truck in Europe next year, and in the long term it is also targeting local production, a senior official of the Chinese electric car manufacturer announced at the IAA trade fair in Hanover.
As of next year, BYD's electric truck will also be available in Europe. It will not remain so. The car manufacturer is to become a "European company" in the long term.
BYD intends to launch its first large-tonne truck in Europe next year and then to manufacture local trucks, a director of the Chinese electric vehicle manufacturer's management team said Monday, reports Reuters, reports Agerpres.
The first heavy duty truck from BYD is to be delivered to Europe next year. "In the long term, we will produce everything we sell in Europe here," says BYD manager Stella Li.
BYD plans to launch its first heavy truck in Europe in 2027 and produce locally everything it sells in the region, a strategy that seeks to reduce the impact of tariffs and turn the company into a European industrial actor.
