Late Friday night, a speeding Shahi bus went out of control on the Bettiah-Lauria main road NH-727 in West Champaran and rammed into a crowd of people watching the orchestra at the Chhathihar festival on the roadside.
The man who had arranged for the orchestra for his son's sixth-day ceremony also died in the accident. This left the child without a father. The tragedy turned the family's celebration into mourning.
