On December 4, 2025, the first G95 HK416 assault rifles, successors to the G36, were handed over to the troops at the Grafenwöhr Training Area. The Deputy Inspector of the Army, Lieutenant General Heico Hübner, and the Head of the Armaments Division at the Federal Ministry of Defense, Vice Admiral Carsten Stawitzki, attended the ceremony.
The Swabian weapon manufacturer Heckler&Koch has handed over the first specimens of the new standard weapon of the Bundeswehr to the troops. The Panzergrenadierbataillon 122 from Oberviechtach received, as announced, the first 300 assault rifles of the type G95 at the troop training site Grafenwöhr. In view of the planned growth of the Bundeswehr much more rifles are to be ordered than planned – first the framework contract is extended to 250,00…
The Bundeswehr is expected to receive 250,000 new rifles. The first models have now been handed over to military soldiers, who are destined for the protection of the NATO East Face from next year.
