Brantford Bulldogs Head Coach to Lead Hamilton Hammers
McKee developed four NHL first-round picks and 31 pro players during five seasons with the Bulldogs, the team said.
On Friday, the American Hockey League's Hamilton Hammers named Jay McKee head coach, elevating the former Brantford Bulldogs leader who set a five-year standard of excellence with the Ontario Hockey League franchise.
During his tenure with the Bulldogs organization, McKee led the team to a 129-49-22-4 record while fostering four NHL first-round draft picks and 31 players who reached the professional level.
A former NHL defenceman who played 802 career games, McKee "helped build a culture rooted in professionalism, accountability, toughness, and genuine care for people," Bulldogs general manager Spencer Hyman said.
The Hammers serve as the American Hockey League affiliate for the New York Islanders and will make the recently renovated TD Coliseum their home for the 2026-27 season.
Relocating from Bridgeport, Connecticut, where the franchise played since 2001, the team begins a new chapter under McKee's leadership in Hamilton's professional market.
