Bugatti's W16 engine era is officially over after more than two decades being the heart of some of the world's most iconic hypercars, starting with the Veyron, followed by the Chiron and finally the Mistral. However, Bugatti did not take the easy path by switching to a smaller engine. On the other hand, the manufacturer from Molsheim replaced the W16 with another 16-cylinder engine through the Tourbillon.
Bugatti details in a new video how the sound of the Tourbillon's atmospheric V16 was worked to scream up to 9,000 rpm.
The sound had to remain raw, mechanical and authentic, without becoming tiring for passengers in everyday use.
