Buc-Ee’s to Make Oklahoma Debut with First Location
The proposal includes a $25 million road project, with Buc-ee’s, the state and the city sharing the cost.
On Tuesday, the Oklahoma City Council approved a $25 million infrastructure project near Yukon, a key step toward bringing the state's first Buc-ee's convenience store to the region.
The agreement establishes a three-way partnership with the Oklahoma Department of Transportation to revamp the Interstate 40 and Cimarron Road interchange, replacing the current two-lane bridge to handle increased traffic.
Funding for the $25 million project includes $6 million from Buc-ee's, over $11 million from the Oklahoma Department of Transportation, and the city covering the remainder, according to council agenda documents.
Oklahoma City Mayor David Holt noted the location offers a significant sales tax benefit, allowing the city to provide services to residents by capturing interstate traveler stops.
While Oklahoma currently lacks a Buc-ee's, the Texas-based chain has expanded rapidly across the United States, with additional store openings planned for 2027 and 2028.
