Brown Sugar Cinnamon Streusel Bread full of delightful fall flavor
The quick bread uses brown sugar, buttermilk and cardamom, and Sarah Nasello says it comes together by hand in about 15 minutes.
To help husband Tony Nasello ease into fall, Sarah Nasello created her Brown Sugar Cinnamon Streusel Bread, featuring a tender, spiced crumb with a cinnamon-sugar ribbon and caramelized streusel topping.
Mourning the end of summer, Tony finds comfort in this treat; Sarah plans to bring loaves to Indiana this week to visit son Giovanni and cheer on the Notre Dame Fighting Irish.
Relying on staples like dark brown sugar, tangy buttermilk, cinnamon, and cardamom, this simple recipe comes together in about 15 minutes, with the streusel requiring cold butter and refrigeration for a craggy, bakery-style topping.
It is especially good served slightly warm with a cup of coffee, and once baked and cooled for 1 hour, the bread stays fresh at room temperature for up to 3 days.
Individual slices may be wrapped tightly and frozen for up to 2 months for longer storage, while for a crisper streusel topping, unwrap and warm in a 300-degree oven for 10 to 15 minutes.
