Brooks Lee homers, Twins score four runs in the sixth in 5-3 win over Royals
Brooks Lee sparked a four-run sixth inning as Minnesota erased an early deficit and held Kansas City to three runs.
On Friday night, the Minnesota Twins defeated the Kansas City Royals 5-3 in MINNEAPOLIS. Brooks Lee hit a leadoff home run to start a four-run sixth inning, erasing an early deficit.
Following a one hour and 15 minute rain delay, Vinnie Pasquantino and Jac Caglianone hit RBI doubles in the first inning to give the Royals an early 2-0 lead.
Twins pitcher Zebby Matthews limited the Royals to five hits over seven innings of work. Outfielder Byron Buxton left the game in the third inning after running into the center field wall.
Royals starter Michael Wacha took the loss, allowing four earned runs over 5 2/3 innings. Travis Adams earned his second save of the year, closing out the game despite a ninth-inning run.
The three-game series continues on Saturday as RHP Luinder Avila takes the mound for the Royals against RHP Joe Ryan, who starts for the Twins.
