Bird remains were found in the engine of a Ryanair Boeing 737 NG plane where a passenger was partially sucked through a broken window shortly after takeoff from Greece in July, the US National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) said.
Parts of the plane's engine broken off, probably due to a bird strike, broke the window of the Ryanair plane last month shortly after takeoff from Thessaloniki to Germany, as a result of which the passenger from Serbia, Ljubiša Karović, was injured, American experts who are investigating the case together with the Greek announced today.
In the twelve months prior to the incident, the crew had reported collisions with birds four times.
According to the Reuters report, the new element is included in the preliminary report of the US National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB), which has taken over the investigation into the incident.
