British police try to track down theft of 70,000 pints worth of Guinness stout
Police say the stolen barrels were meant for pubs and the total loss, including trailers, is estimated at £205,000.
- On Monday, thieves stole approximately £205,000 worth of goods, including about 800 barrels of Guinness and two trailers, from Whitehouse Industrial Estate in Runcorn.
- A first lorry entered the site at 7:45 PM, connecting to a white tri-axle trailer with GXO branding before fleeing toward Mersey Gateway; a second arrived at 9:12 PM and headed toward Rainhill.
- Police describe the first male driver as white with a short dark beard wearing a beanie hat; the second wore a cap. The trailers bore unique ID numbers DL736 and DL542 and contained approximately 70,400 pints of stout.
- Cheshire Police launched an investigation and appealed for witnesses. Detective Sergeant McClatchy said, "Guinness is good for you, but that is only the case when it has been bought and paid for."
- Officers urge motorists who were in the area to review dashcam footage and contact Cheshire Police on 101, citing incident reference number IML-2408641.
