A British aircraft carrier strike group made a port call in eastern Japan on Tuesday, marking the first such visit in about four years in a show of deeper security cooperation between the two nations.
The British Navy's newest aircraft carrier, HMS Prince of Wales, docked at the U.S. Navy's Yokosuka Air Base in Kanagawa Prefecture, Japan today. This marks the second time the British aircraft carrier, HMS Queen Elizabeth, has docked at Yokosuka since 2021. Prior to the docking, British fighter jets conducted shipboard training aboard a Japanese frigate for the first time, deepening the UK-Japan quasi-alliance.
