Brent Suter Traded to Braves as Atlanta Strengthens Bullpen Before MLB Deadline
On Monday, the Atlanta Braves acquired left-handed reliever Brent Suter from the Los Angeles Angels in exchange for infielder Nacho Alvarez Jr., bolstering their bullpen ahead of the 6 p.m. trade deadline.
The Los Angeles Angels continue their rebuild with little chance of competing in the coming years, while the Braves sought to reinforce their pitching staff for the stretch run.
Featuring a 4.12 ERA across 41 games this year, Suter provides the Braves a veteran presence for the Postseason with an 81st percentile ground-ball rate and 94th percentile hard-hit rate.
Alvarez will likely receive consistent playing time in Anaheim with over 200 career at-bats, while Suter replaces Danny Young as the Braves' third left-handed reliever.
The Braves have been active ahead of the 6 p.m. deadline, recently acquiring starting pitcher Tyler Mahle, outfielder Lane Thomas, and reliever Bailey Falter to strengthen their roster.
