11-Year-Old Dies in Go-Kart Crash
The boy was pulled from the water, given CPR and airlifted to a Rochester hospital, where he died, while an 8-year-old was treated at the scene.
On Sunday, September 6, 2026, an 11-year-old boy died following a go-kart crash in Darien, New York. The vehicle rolled into a pond, trapping the boy underwater.
Genesee County Sheriff's Office deputies responded to Fargo Road just after 2:30 p.m. to a report of a go-kart rollover. Deputies say two children were riding in the go-kart when it crashed.
Family members and firefighters performed CPR after freeing the boy from the pond. Mercy Flight airlifted the 11-year-old to Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester, where he died from his injuries.
Medical personnel treated the 8-year-old passenger at the scene and released the child. This survivor was the second occupant riding in the go-kart during the crash.
Investigation into the crash continues as the Sheriff's Office works to determine the cause of the rollover. Authorities have not released additional information regarding the incident.
