On Thursday, 9 shipments of cigarettes flown from Belarus to Lithuania by hot air balloon were intercepted. In total, more than 55 thousand packs of illegal cigarettes entered the warehouses of the State Security Service after these operations. After the state took active measures to combat smuggling by hot air balloon, such attempts have decreased several times this year.

On Thursday, 8 October, nine shipments of Belrus cigarettes were intercepted by Lithuanian border guards and transported across the border at the Meteozonde. Four cases were recorded in the Varen district, three in the Kaisjador region and one in the Ukmerg and Panevage regions, reported by the Lithuanian State Border Security Service.
