Border Agent Charged with Child Sex Trafficking, Fraud. Critics Raise Oversight Concerns.
COCHISE COUNTY, ARIZONA, JUL 20 – Bart Conrad Yager faces 24 felony charges including 10 counts of child sex trafficking and drug offenses following an investigation into sexual misconduct and fraudulent claims, prosecutors said.
- On June 17, 2025, the Office of Professional Responsibility arrested Bart Conrad Yager in Willcox, Cochise County, and he was indicted on 24 felony counts including 10 child sex trafficking charges.
- According to Special Agent Bryin Cooper, CBP opened its probe in September 2023 after reporting Yager misrepresented his work location and claimed fraudulent travel reimbursements.
- Between 2021 and 2024, Yager paid $42,400 in 231 transactions with women, including $12,161 in 35 payments to a minor previously documented as a trafficking victim, Special Agent Bryin Cooper wrote.
- This case is the latest of several Arizona-based CBP employees charged with sexual misconduct, Yager is held in Cochise County Jail pending trial.
- Despite early reports, CBP never investigated the allegations against Yager, according to a CBP special agent’s statement, and abuse by agents has been a systemic problem across the agency, Ricky Garza said.
