Vaval led the CFL in punt return yards and earned 133 votes from Football Reporters of Canada, topping two other finalists.
On Thursday, the CFL named Winnipeg Blue Bombers returner Trey Vaval the Most Outstanding Special Teams Player for a second consecutive season, becoming the first player in league history to win the award in back-to-back years.
Vaval dominated the 2026 season, leading the CFL with 2,868 total kick return yards and averaging 13.8 yards per punt return and 24.2 yards per kickoff return from Blue Springs.
Voters awarded Vaval 133 votes, surpassing Edmonton Elks kicker Vincent Blanchard and Calgary Stampeders returner Tyreik McAllister , while he broke his franchise record with a 129-yard missed field goal return touchdown.
Other Winnipeg Football Club players vying for league honors include running back Brady Oliveira for Most Outstanding Canadian, alongside offensive lineman Jarell Broxton and rookie candidate Major Williams.
Saskatchewan Roughriders player Corey Holmes remains the only other athlete to win the award twice in its 27-year history, while Vaval now holds six career return touchdowns, trailing only Janarion Grant.
