Body of Duluth Man Found at Base of 300-Foot Cliff
Authorities said the 64-year-old Duluth man is the second body found at Palisade Head this year, and the cause of death remains under investigation.
On Monday, The Lake County Sheriff and Lake County Rescue Squad recovered the body of 64-year-old Michael Morse at the base of Palisade Head in Tettegouche State Park.
Located along Minnesota Highway 61, the 300-foot cliff at Tettegouche State Park overlooks Lake Superior; this marks the second body recovered at the base this year.
Authorities previously recovered the body of 29-year-old Seth Pipho of Minneapolis on May 27, which the Midwest Medical Examiner concluded resulted from an accidental fall. Fatal hiking accidents also occurred at the site in 2010 and 2017.
The Sheriff and the Midwest Medical Examiner are currently investigating Morse's death. Officials have not yet provided a specific cause of death for the 64-year-old man.
Situated north of Silver Bay, the location remains a popular destination for visitors seeking views of Lake Superior, despite the recurring history of falls at the 300-foot cliff.
