Body Found in Fraser River Weeks After Man’s Reported Fall

Police recovered the body with help from two other agencies and said the adult male may have fallen into the Fraser River.

  • On Sunday, May 31, the Katzie First Nation discovered a body in the Fraser River just east of the south end of Bonson Road. Police responded at approximately 10:45 a.m.
  • First responders originally searched the area off the Port Haney Wharf on River Road on April 27, after reports that an adult male may have fallen into the water.
  • Maple Ridge RCMP, the New Westminster Police Service, and Ridge Meadows Search and Rescue conducted searches using two boats and a police helicopter, though initial efforts proved unsuccessful.
  • Police confirmed the deceased was the same individual reported missing on April 27. Investigators stated no foul play is suspected, and the investigation remains ongoing.
  • Out of respect for the family's privacy, the RCMP is withholding the deceased's name. Officials stated no further details regarding the individual's identity will be released.
