The head of the National Bank of Romania, Christian Păunescu, sits on the carpet, in an interview for the public television station in Poland, TVPWorld, the issue of the Romanian Treasurer, which was not recovered from Russia. It says that for the Romans, recovery is a moral debt issue. All possible means of negotiation have been tried, but the USSR and, later, Russia has ignored this debt. The treasure value is now raised to 8 billion euros.
Russia and Romania signed an agreement in 2003 that led to the formation of a commission to examine the problem.
Cristian Păunescu, adviser to the Governor of the Romanian National Bank (BNR), said in an interview with the Polish publication TVP World that the recovery of Romanian treasure over a century in Russia remains a moral and historical debt.
