Clemson University students presented an electric car that generates more energy than it consumes on an average day of commuting. The prototype called Deep Orange 17, also known internally as Luminetta, was developed in collaboration with BMW and the Fraunhofer Institute for Solar Energy Systems ISE. Visually, the vehicle is reminiscent of an angular refrigerator on wheels rather than a sports car, but this form is precisely the key to success.
