- Separately, BMW is recalling 27,720 vehicles in the United States due to a defect involving the connection between the driveshaft and rear axle differential that could increase crash risks.
- Models including the M550i are affected, as excessive wear in the drivetrain connection could lead to power loss or vehicles rolling away when parked if not secured by the parking brake.
- BMW will mail Notification letters beginning Oct 2, while Toyota plans to send its owner notifications beginning Sept 21. Owners should contact Dealers for free inspections.
