The 2026 Bluefin Tuna season is officially underway! On 31 July, expert skipper Adrian Molloy of tuna.ie and his angling clients tagged and released the season’s first fish in Donegal Bay. The fish measured 191cm and was caught by Ryan Callaghan. Operating out of Killybegs, Adrian is one of up to 20 skippers authorised this year under the Tuna CHART scientific data collection programme to safely catch, tag, and release Atlantic bluefin tuna in Irish waters.
