Bloom becomes UK's first café chain to reward customers for walking

The loyalty feature lets members earn one point for every 1,000 steps and redeem them for bowls, drinks and smoothies.

  • BLOOM Juice became the first cafe chain in the UK to reward walking through its new BLOOM Steps app feature. Customers in Cambridge, Derby, and Leeds can download the app from the App Store and Google Play to earn points from daily steps.
  • Unlike external reward programs requiring separate apps or insurance memberships, BLOOM Steps is managed directly by Bloom. Members earn one point for every 1,000 steps, with extra points awarded for completing milestones and challenges.
  • Jordan Dodd, Managing Director at Bloom, said, "Wellness has always been in our DNA." Members can redeem points in-store for acai bowls, matcha drinks, and functional smoothies immediately upon reaching required point totals.
  • Both activity points and standard purchase rewards accumulate in a single balance, allowing Customers to build towards items through walking, buying, or both. Members can compete on leaderboards and share weekly flower-bouquet streaks on social media.
  • Future updates will introduce new ways to spend points, including charity donations, expanding redemption options beyond in-store products. The app tracks daily progress through virtual smoothie cups and weekly streaks as growing digital flower bouquets.
