Bloodborne Video Game Film Adaptation Announced with YouTube Star

Sony says the R-rated adaptation will stay true to the game’s gore, with YouTuber JackSepticEye attached as producer.

  • At CinemaCon in Las Vegas, Sony Pictures announced an R-rated animated feature film adaptation of the hit PlayStation game Bloodborne, with YouTuber JackSepticEye, known as Sean McLoughlin, attached to produce.
  • Released in 2015 for PlayStation 4, Bloodborne is a gothic horror game developed by FromSoftware that follows a monster hunter through the cursed city of Yharnum infected with a bloodborne disease.
  • Sanford Panitch, president of Sony Pictures Entertainment Motion Picture Group, promised the film will be "very true" to the gory spirit of the game, with Lyrical Animation co-producing alongside McLoughlin and PlayStation Productions.
  • The project highlights Sony Pictures' growing commitment to adapting its PlayStation intellectual property folio for film and television, following the success of HBO's The Last of Us and the announcement of a Helldivers adaptation.
  • Sony is also developing a live-action Legend of Zelda film directed by Wes Ball, while the Helldivers adaptation directed by Justin Lin will be released on Nov. 10, 2027.
