'I Did What I Had To Do' — Black Woman Charged With Murder After Allegedly Finding 20-Year-Old Man Hiding Under Her 15-Year-Old Daughter's Bed
Police say Kendra Scott was arrested after a 20-year-old man was found dead with a gunshot wound to the head.
- Kendra Scott shot Rodderius Morton in Memphis, Tennessee, on Thursday and was arrested and charged with First Degree Murder and Employing a Firearm During the Commission of a Dangerous Felony.
- Scott's daughter invited Morton into the home at 1 a.m., but when Scott returned at 1:30 a.m., she discovered him hiding under the bed in her daughter's room.
- Scott had previously warned her daughter, "If I see a boy in the house, then I will put a hole in his a," and during the confrontation yelled, "Get out of my house, b."
- As Morton attempted to leave, Scott followed him to the front porch, where a single gunshot rang out; officers found him dead in the front yard with a gunshot wound to the head.
- Scott is being detained at the Shelby County Jail without bond and has a scheduled court hearing on Monday to address the charges against her.
