Bernese energy company BKW announced Wednesday that it is starting the development of a battery facility with a capacity of 300 megawatts (MW) and a storage capacity of 600 MW in Germany. The project is estimated to cost more than 200 million euros.


The BKW will participate in the planned large battery park Waltrop in Germany. The Bern energy group will develop, build and operate a large battery storage system with a capacity of 300 megawatts and a storage capacity of 600 megawatt hours.
