Glassnode said 4 million long-term holder coins were bought above today’s price, raising the risk of selling if Bitcoin revisits $85,000.
Blockchain analytics firm Glassnode flagged $85,000 as a critical resistance level for Bitcoin, identifying four million BTC held by long-term investors as potential sell pressure if price recovers.
Long-Term holders, defined as entities holding BTC without selling for at least 155 days, acquired their supply between $85,000 and $118,000, mostly in 2025. Many accumulated holdings above current price levels.
The LTH spent output profit ratio, or SOPR, currently sits at 0.99, signaling that long-term holders are moving supply at an aggregate loss. Values below 1 confirm underwater positions.
Bitcoin has respected the $84,000-$85,000 range as support and resistance over 11 months, with upside momentum fading near $87,400 in May, September, and October. The band remains structurally significant.
Glassnode analysis links 864,520 BTC—representing 4.3% of total supply—to Bitcoin's difficulty sustaining daily closes above $85,000. This concentrated onchain volume underscores the resistance hurdle's structural importance.
Glassnode estimates that about 4 million BTCs purchased between USD $85,000 and USD $118.000 remain in the hands of long-term loss holders, a block that could add sellers if the price approaches those levels again.
