According to today's Tuesday data from the Department of Energy, crude oil stocks in the United States strategic reserve declined last week to the lowest level since November 1982. Data showed that the strategic reserve fell by 1.2 million barrels to 285.4 million barrels during the week ending 4 September, the lowest level of total government stocks since November 1982.

The US strategic oil reserve (REP) at the end of the week ending September 4 reached a new minimum since November 1982, falling to 285.4 million barrels, show data from the country's Department of Energy.

The US, which continues to use its Strategic Petroleum Reserve to mitigate the impact of global oil supply disruptions on fuel prices, has seen its emergency oil stocks reach their lowest level since November 1982.
