Binman shares 'easy' trick to stop bins being left down the road
A binman said a house number or name on the lid helps crews return bins to the right home after collection.
Ashley, a binman, recommends placing your house number or name on the bin lid to ensure it is returned to the correct home after collection.
Many people often find their bins left down the road after rubbish collection, creating frustration when they must retrieve them from neighbors' properties.
Ashley advised, "So get your number on top of your bin," noting that side markings are ineffective because the lid remains visible regardless of viewing angle.
Sharing their thoughts, one person said, "Yessss I knew I wasn't mad putting it on the lid!" while another noted, "Mine has always been on the front, name and street, never had an issue."
One person questioned, "Why are people so lazy, the extra steps will do us good," while Ashley emphasized that binmen will return bins correctly as long as identification remains clear.
