Bihar News: SI Exam Row Sparks Student Protest; Neeraj Kumar's Win Exposes JDU's Internal Rift
Bihar is witnessing student protests and political tensions following recent developments in the state. In Patna, candidates took to the streets after the cancellation of the recruitment examination for 1,799 sub-inspector posts. Protesters gathered at JP Golambar, where police stopped them using barricades. Several candidates tried to cross the barricades as police personnel held their positions and prevented them from moving forward. The protesters raised slogans demanding justice, the release of results and the fulfilment of their demands. Meanwhile, the results of the MLC elections have triggered an internal dispute within the Janata Dal (United). Senior JDU leader Neeraj Kumar, who won the Patna Graduate constituency for the fourth consecutive time, expressed disappointment over the absence of a congratulatory call from Union Minister Lalan Singh. Neeraj said several senior leaders, including Ram Nath Thakur, both Deputy Chief Ministers, Sanjay Jha, Vashishtha Narayan Singh and Nishant Kumar, had contacted him, but Lalan Singh had not. He also alleged that he faced political and mental harassment during the election and said he would return the treatment he received “with interest.” Neeraj claimed that Anant Singh had made efforts to defeat him, while Jan Suraaj's candidate finished third. The election results have also raised questions about differences between the camps associated with Lalan Singh and Sanjay Jha. JDU won the Patna Graduate seat but lost the Tirhut Graduate, Saran Teacher and Darbhanga Teacher seats. Meanwhile, JDU working president Sanjay Jha defended the party's disciplinary system, stating that decisions are taken by the party and receive final approval from Nitish Kumar.
