Benidorm has paid tribute to former mayor Rafael Ferrer Meliá, a key figure during the water crisis that threatened the city and its tourist industry in the late 1970s. The recognition has been carried out coinciding with the 47th anniversary of the Spanish Constitution, in an event held in the Plaza de la Hispanidad, where Ferrer Meliá has received the Benidorm Corporate Medal from the mayor, Toni Pérez.
